Women Criminal Defense Attorneys: Let’s Resolve to Build Community in 2013

Happy New Year!! This is the time of year that one reflects on goals and promises for the upcoming year.  In that spirit I want to share one of my professional resolutions. But first, some background. I just started this blog at the end of October 2012.  The blog’s purpose was intended to be an ever-present constant message and has its own tab at the top of this page. I didn’t want to lose focus on that purpose so I chose to give it prominence.  And in only two short months, I have already been surprised at the blog’s impact on my own life.

I have met some wonderfully passionate women defenders while working on this blog.  I too am learning the true power of developing a community of women criminal defense attorneys.   Many of these women are kindred spirits and true champions of justice that I did not know before embarking on this journey.  When I decided to create a forum for women to inspire other women I hadn’t realized how much personal inspiration I would find.

I was probably one of those women that felt she didn’t need to create sisterhood and what I have found is how much I really do need that sisterhood.  As I have said before, I love my friendships with male comrades and that will never change. But I am gaining more from creating community with women in this field than I had expected.  So, I resolve to continue to grow and nurture the development of community for women criminal defense attorneys.   Not just for myself but for all of us.  Here is to 2013 being a great year for all women that dedicate themselves to being liberty’s last champion.
